Hold Politicians Accountable: The Truth Behind Their Empty Promises

Politicians love showing off, don’t they? Flashy SUVs, grand entrances, and promises that vanish into thin air. They roll into your neighborhood like it’s their personal stage, ready to make lofty promises that disappear before the dust even settles. But here’s the reality check—six months have passed, and if you think anything has changed, it’s time to wake up. The National government might claim they’ve been working hard, but what have they actually done for you?

It’s time to stop waiting for their next grand speech. It’s time to hold them accountable—and guess what? You’re the only one who can make that happen.

What’s Really Going On In Your Area?

Take a good look around. What’s really happening in your community? What projects have these politicians actually started, and more importantly, are they real or just another smoke-and-mirrors show? It’s time to take the power back into your hands. Stop waiting for those empty promises. Get out there and find out for yourself.

Form a group of five people. Yes, five. That’s all it takes. Together, hit the streets, visit those so-called “projects,” and take notes. Are the roads getting built? Is that new hospital actually functioning? Is that school being renovated, or are the walls just gathering dust? It’s up to you to find the truth. Stop waiting for your senator, MP, or women rep to show up with more empty promises. Take control.

The Power of a One-Page Newspaper

Here’s your secret weapon: create a simple, one-page newspaper. It’s easy. You don’t need a full newsroom or fancy technology. All you need is the truth. Write down what you see. Is there progress? Or are you staring at another abandoned project? Get the word out. This one-page newspaper isn’t just for you; it’s for your whole community. It’s your tool to keep your elected officials on their toes. The more people see what’s really going on—or not going on—the harder it’ll be for these politicians to pretend they care. And that’s exactly what you need.

The Show They’re Putting On

You’ve seen it all before—the flashy cars, the parades of power. But have you seen any tangible results? Have these politicians really done anything for the people, or are they just riding around in style, playing a game on their terms? If you’re not checking, if you’re not holding them accountable, you’re just letting them get away with it.

Do you want to keep giving them a free pass? Or do you want to see the truth of what they’ve accomplished—or failed to accomplish—in the last six months?

Don’t Just Complain—Take Action!

It’s not enough to just sit back and complain. You’ve got to be part of the solution. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. Go to those projects. Check the roads, the schools, the hospitals. Look for progress, or the lack of it. Then, take that truth and show it to everyone. You’ve got the power to make a difference, to make sure your voice is heard.

These politicians think they can get away with anything, but the only thing they’re stealing now is your attention. Don’t give it to them. Keep checking, keep shouting. Don’t let them get away with more than they already have.

Hold Them Accountable—It’s Time To Act

You’ve got the power. Use it. Create that newspaper, walk the streets, and start making a difference. The real work is in the streets—not in the speeches. Don’t let your elected officials off the hook. If they’re not doing their job, it’s time to remind them that they’re not above accountability.

It’s time to stop waiting. It’s time to demand real action.

1963 was not freedom. It was a baton pass. From colonial administrators to Kenyan elites. From British companies to local cronies. The currency changed. The theft didn’t.

The roads in Turkana still look like footpaths. Hospitals still refer patients to prayer. Nurses still strike for months. Teachers still buy chalk with their salary. Governors still drive past open sewers in tinted Prados. And MPs still earn more in two months than a clinical officer makes in two years. That’s not democracy. That’s abuse with elections.

Universities? Empty promises with broken labs. Classrooms with peeling paint. Graduates walking to job interviews with CVs in brown envelopes, only to meet someone’s cousin already hired. Youth don’t need another summit. They need people to stop stealing HELB. They need working taps, not fake ribbon-cutting.

Then comes health. Not sickness. Health. The thing no leader in Kenya cares about unless it involves flying to India. We’ve had ministers running the docket like a side hustle. Clinics without gloves. Wards without drugs. But you’ll see a fully-funded budget. That’s the comedy. And tragedy.

Everyone complains. Few act. That’s why https://www.wantamnotam.com/community matters. Not to rant. Not to trend. To connect those who are tired of talking into the void. Not filtered by blue ticks. Not buried by algorithms. No boosting needed. Real people. Real names. Real problems. Real plans. No jokes. No gimmicks.

Facebook? Your voice drowns in sponsored posts and recycled memes. Twitter? Bots trend fake outrage. Screenshots go viral. Nothing moves. WantAmNotAm isn’t another platform. It’s a gathering point. Where young Kenyans draft real county-based demands. Where hustlers trade real solutions. Where nurses, welders, teachers, and farmers don’t need permission to be heard.

You post an idea on WantAmNotAm, someone sees it in Kitale. Another tests it in Voi. Someone else shares it in Kericho. No likes. No fake clout. Just activity. A boda guy suggests a village water fund. A nurse refines it. A carpenter funds it. It begins.

Join the movement today. Let’s help change Kenya. Tuko Pamoja! https://www.wantamnotam.com/community/

No influencer needed. No politician invited. That’s the break.

The youth already know the game. They’re not looking for saviors. They’re looking for each other. And they’re finding each other on this site. This isn’t protest. It’s planning. It’s quiet coordination without headlines. Without applause.

WantAmNotAm is not here to trend. It’s here to replace what failed.

If you’ve ever walked into a government office and walked out with nothing, this is for you. If you’ve ever sold airtime to eat lunch while waiting for a job call that never came, this is for you. If you’ve ever watched your parent beg a nurse for attention at a public hospital, this is yours.

No suits. No selfies. Just people building what the government won’t.

Log in. Drop the jokes. Write something real. Read what others wrote. Add to it. Correct it. Build it. WantAmNotAm is not a campaign. It’s the end of handouts. The death of fake politics. The rise of working solutions. Created by you. Not for likes. Not for retweets. But to finally fix what nobody fixed.

Join the movement today. Let’s help change Kenya. Tuko Pamoja! https://www.wantamnotam.com/community/

WHAT HAS THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT ACTUALLY DELIVERED SINCE 2010? LET’S ASK REAL QUESTIONS

Twelve years in. Billions borrowed. Trillions taxed. Still waiting. Still hoping. So what’s changed?

Foreign Affairs. How many deals have actually brought jobs back home? Not press statements—real employment for ordinary Kenyans. Which treaties made our exports competitive? Or is our foreign policy still about flashy photos, motorcades, and first-class tickets?

Defense and Security. Is the National Intelligence Service stopping threats or just watching Twitter? Are our borders safe or porous? And what about KDF—are they protecting or are they protecting certain interests?

Immigration. How long does it take to get a passport? A visa? An ID? Are services efficient or locked behind bribes? Who is getting fast-tracked—and who’s left stranded?

Currency. Why is the shilling in freefall? Where is the Central Bank when the prices of fuel, flour, and fees keep rising? Are interest rate decisions serving banks or the mwananchi?

National Planning. Where’s the growth? Where are the jobs? Where is the strategy beyond PowerPoint presentations and overhyped summits?

Transport. Why do roads fall apart a year after they’re launched? Why do tenders go to ghost contractors? Who actually benefits from big infrastructure if it doesn’t connect farmers to markets?

Education. Why are graduates jobless? Why do students still sit on floors? Why is cheating still rampant? Who’s auditing the curriculum?

Health. Is KNH a hospital or a waiting room? Do you trust public health systems with your life? Or would you rather sell land and head to India?

Energy. Why is electricity still unaffordable? Who’s behind the overpriced power deals? Why does Kenya Power need constant bailouts?

Revenue. Where does our tax go? Why are public servants richer than their ministries? Who checks the KRA—especially when your PIN is more monitored than public theft?

Debt. How much do we owe? Who negotiated? Who benefited? What was bought? Who signed? Who will repay?

Judiciary. Are courts a place for justice or delay? Do rich criminals get charged or just charged with tea? Are rulings for sale?

Policing. Is your local police station safe—or a collection point? How many crimes go unreported because people fear the system more than the thugs?

Prisons. Rehabilitation or punishment? Are people reforming or hardening? Is prison a revolving door for the poor?

Environment. Who is destroying forests? Who’s protecting wildlife—or hunting with licenses? Is climate action policy or PR?

Standards. Why do substandard goods flood shelves? Where is KEBS when people die from fake alcohol or bad cooking gas?

Data. Can you trust government statistics? Or are they tweaked to fit a press release?

Research. Where’s the funding? Why do young scientists run abroad? Who’s backing innovation with cash—not just claps?

WHAT NEXT?

Ask. Loudly. Publicly. Online. Offline. Demand audited reports. Compare promises to actual figures. Attend forums. Question MPs. Question CSs. Refuse press briefings as proof. Make leaders uncomfortable. Refuse silence. Share facts. Expose lies. Push back. Always.

No need for permission. Just start.
